Objectives:
Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness with symptoms that may significantly fluctuate over time. To help patients to track their symptoms in-between medical appointments and to share results with the treating neurologist, the authors designed and developed a mobile application (app).
Methodology:
The design and development of the app involved input from patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs) to ensure it meets their needs. A 3-month pilot study is ongoing in Spain and Italy. The end of study survey includes qualitative and quantitative feedback questions to evaluate the app’s usability and usefulness from the perspective of patients and their HCPs.
Results:
The MG symptom tracking app was successfully developed with Myasthenia Gravis Activities of Daily Living identified as the most relevant patient-reported outcome instrument. The pilot study assessing usability and usefulness is ongoing and the results will be presented at the congress.
Conclusions:
This MG symptom tracking app has the potential to be an effective tool for patients to track their symptoms and to share the results with the treating neurologist. The app’s additional functions, including medication reminders and educational resources, could help patients keep up with their medication schedule and better understand their condition. The app should be considered as a potential valuable addition to the management of MG.
